Introductory Microsoft Teams Training

 

Microsoft Teams is a platform that combines chat, meetings, notes, and attachments. Teams can be accessed from any Microsoft Cloud product page or from an installed app on computers and mobile devices.

This class is being taught competely online through the Teams platform.

Before being able to join the online class, a few steps will need to be taken.

1. Please go to myapps.uta.edu .
2. Click on the Teams icon.
3. Click on your initials in the upper right hand corner.
4. Select the "Download the desktop app." Complete the process to downlaod the app to your device.

This hybrid training session will begin with a 3-hour introductory workshop. In the live session, participants will receive an overview of online training and the Canvas Learning Management System. Time will be spent walking through the online course modules in “Developing Non-Academic Courses in Canvas”. The goal of the session is to introduce participants to the system and course material so that they are comfortable in continuing to learn about the system after the workshop. At the conclusion of the live session, participants will have access to the online course modules and should review pages not covered in class. The live session will review and highlight commonly used areas of Canvas and best practices for online training including:

Microsoft Bookings is an online and mobile app originally designed for small businesses who provide services to customers on an appointment basis. In a university environment it can be used to schedule appointments for advising, counseling, tutoring, or any service where an appointment is needed. We will cover the setup and creation of a Microsoft Bookings site.

Prerequisite

Participants must successfully complete The Fundamentals of Process Improvement course, including the homework assignments.

Audience 

UTA employees interested in applying process improvement techniques to their daily work. 

Description 

The course consists of 4 sessions held in June and a follow-up session in July (Total of 5 Sessions).  The weekly exercises walk you through application of the steps to work a project.  Participants will learn how to use tools to visualize and systematically analyze processes at UTA.  Additional work sessions scheduled on Thursday and Friday each week to coach participants on their exercises. 

The purpose of this training is to: 

  1. Educate employees on process improvement methodology and how campus can utilize the tools to achieve university initiatives. 

  1. Equip employees with a variety of process improvement tools to use in their daily work. 

Time Commitment: 

Students need to commit 3 to 4 hours each week (1.5 hours for class time and up to another 2.5 hours to complete the exercise for the week).  Exercises need to be completed prior to the next week’s session. One hour work-group sessions will be offered each Thursday and Friday. Students may attend these sessions to ask questions and collaborate as they work through their weekly assignment.

Class Lectures: 10/22, 10/29, 11/5, 11/12, 11/19 & 12/10

Work Group sessions will be available for students as they work on their assignments each week. During the break from 11/19 - 12/10 students will work and prepare their final project and presentation.
